I followed Jose's lead. Bought a 4' length that i have been whittling down
as they blow away. Also we have the Fiama so can't open the window very far anyway.

Hey Dan, nice mod with the shelf. Need to look closely at this idea.

I actually made a small slit on the foam so I can slide it up on the hold down bracket on the glass side to minimize blowing away. That’s why I didn’t use a spoon or something hard because when it doesn’t stay put it won’t scratch the trailer.

Thanks Bob and Jose. Is the glass easily removable in yours like ours? The "hinge" at the top seems to be made just for this purpose IMO.

Having no glass at all blocking the window makes a big difference, especially on hot nights with no A/C shore power.

Very simple to put it back too . . . the trick is to remember . . .

Consistency?

So I find it especially odd that LNBright and I each have 2015 20' FC, but his has latches for the rear galley window but I don't.

Consider those that have the hardware in place “lucky” I just don’t have that kind of luck!

Me neither, Jose.

If it wasn't for bad luck, we wouldn't have no luck at all!

Rear cabinet over sink falling off!

The rear cabinet over my sink (2013 20FB) is falling off! The side away from the bathroom had dropped about two inches from the roof that it previously connected to. Two screw appear to have failed. One, 2” screw, that goes from the top of the cabinet into the roof skin and another, 3” screw, that goes from the back of the cabinet into the rear trailer skin. The rear one is bent and spins freely and the top one just falls freely out even after jacking the cabinet into place and trying to screw it in. Any ideas on where I can place new fasteners? Maybe a place to mount some angle aluminum to better support the cabinet? Thank you all.

Oops . . . sorry 'bout that!

Your 2013 cabinets are a little different than our 2014. Looks like that fastener, and probably others, missed going into roof ribs/frame framing members, and just ended up going into the thin interior aluminum ceiling skin. It is amazing that this cabinet has not fallen sooner IMO!

The best bet will be to locate and remove all fasteners from inside the cabinet, holding it to the ceiling and to the wall on the right. There could be as many as 6-8, so look carefully and get ready to remove them.

Before removing any fasteners, however, support the weight of the cabinet with well-placed shoring, or have 1-2 helpers hold it up very carefully, while you remove all the screws. It should drop down easily after all the attaching screws are taken out. Do not leave it hanging by just 1-2 fasteners!

After the cabinet is down, and out of the way, you should be able to identify the straight lines of rivets that define where any wall/ceiling framing members are located. You want new attaching fasteners to go into only these framing members.

Please post new photos of where you think the framing members are above the left end of that cabinet. [some temporary duct tape to mark on maybe]

The right end of the cabinet will attach to the plywood wall to the right, and this is pretty straightforward IMO. Sounds like the existing screws on this end also did not done correctly. "Operator error" by the installer IMO. Please post more photos, so we don't have to guess and speculate about this.

Good luck,

Peter

We went to Chincoteague, camped for a few days, then picked up and rolled south to camp at Ocracoke for several more days. The route took us down the Delmarva peninsula and across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Sunday last…

As we’re heading south across the bridge heading towards the southern tunnel, we’re noticing a large ship off to the east… it was an aircraft carrier coming into Norfolk. We then entered the tunnel, came out onto the southernmost bridge segment, and the carrier was onto the other side: we actually went under the carrier. I had to stop and snap a pic….

That evening at dinner, Laura nudged me and pointed to the TV over the bar, a news report out of Norfolk, about the Eisenhower coming into home port….

VA State Parks

On your trip you passed two of my favorite VA state campgrounds Kiptopeke and First Landing.

Next time stop and enjoy the area! Especially Norfolk.

Watched the arrival of the Eisenhower from VA Beach.

Ocracoke has long been our go-to beach.

I'd been to Chincoteague once as a kid, but didn't remember particulars about it really, other than I got to sit on the back of Stormy. My wife has been reading the books to her classroom, and she likes lighthouses. But, we didn't know if we'd love it like we do Ocracoke, so the plan was... go to a new beach for part of the trip, then go to our old favorite too. (I mean, w/ a camper, you can do that, right?)

I'll admit, I had some distance misconceptions in my head regarding Delmarva.... I thought we'd get there quicker, but, trying to dodge DC traffic, we threaded between DC and Baltimore... would have liked to have stopped at Harpers Ferry and Annapolis, but we didn't have time if we'd get to the campground before dark. I thought Tangier Island would be a good day trip, and also see Cambridge and Ocean City, but once to Chincoteague, realized that was out, too.

I want to go back, see Cambridge, a launch out of Wallops, maybe even get over to Tangier Island, there's quite a bit that we have on our to-do list for the region; but, I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Shake rattle and roll!

I love my 2014 20’ flying cloud. BUT, no matter how I try after a day of driving 200 miles, everything has come open!

I have replaced the crappy hinges on the drawers, but they still fly open and dump contents!

Help!

A disclaimer first -- I don't mind exposed hardware if the finish and design are good. Form follows function . . .

So the exposed stainless strap eyes may not appeal to some folks, but on their own they are preferable to exposed bases for white Velcro, and coachman's loops (if I understood that post correctly). The top eye near the sinks is also actually good for the corner of a thin hand/dish towel. Different strokes for different folks . . .
. . .

Good luck,

Peter

Al we use the bungees for the refer only. Top drawer handle to inboard coat rack hook. The oven drawer full of heavy stuff we solved with a rev-a-lock and the can/spice(??) slideout i solved with a simple gate hook...kinda rube but functional and works great. Both posted here but awhile ago. !et me know and I'll dig up.

Btw what psi are you running...? Swing wide for those driveway approaches. ; )))

I have a 2014 20'er and the only issue I have ever had with doors staying closed is the one on the refrigerator. I have never had any other door or drawer pop open, strange... Not that I am complaining.
