Whats Does It Cost You For Plates On Your RV?
Im curious about what people around the country/world are paying for lisc plates on their RV's?
On my 22th Avion they are about $10 a year.
My tow vehicle, a 68 Suburban, is about $20 a year.

In Alabama the property tax for vehicles is included in the price of the license plate. Therefore, my Airstream tag last year was around $30, yet the tag for my new pickup truck was $300. I think this is one of the ways the state shuffles taxes to try to make our state's property taxes appear low. In a sense, they are low. However, we pay gas tax, sales tax, state gas tax, local gas tax, etc, etc....

I pay....
For the AS - $26.00 a year
For the truck - 38.00 a year
Last year, the state offered a life time plate for $140.00, think I'll do that this year. Oscar

Car, truck and trailer all in the $65 range. Counties here can add road and bridge fees to the state base amount.

I think the Airstream was $20 something. Truck has special non commercial agricultural education plates, and they are around $65.
63, doesn't Alabama have the lowest property taxes in the Nation?

In Michigan trailer plates are based on shipping weight. My 1996 30' has a shipping weight of 6960 lbs. and the plate cost is $58.00 a year. Our motor vehicle plate is based on resale value and goes down each year. My 2001 Dodge Ram plate for this year is $102.00. Last year was about $120.00.

TAXAFORNIA
Hey y'all;
Out here on the left coast, our state goverment has thier hand really deep into the pockets of the drivers. They hate our cars and punish us with outrages taxes on our autos and gas.
My A/S is $40.00 BUT my 9 yr. old truck is $350.00. I would not mind paying this but our roads have become a parking lot or they are in poor shape in need of repair. I wont even talk about the filth on the side of the roadways. Here in California we have more people in prison then many countries do, you think we would have a chain gang of non-violent people cleaning the sides of the road, showing us thanks for feeding, clothing and housing them. OOPs on a rant sorry- Ray

Plate in Massachusetts is 25 bucks, regardless of the trailer's weight or value. Funny thing is that all trailer plates expire in November...so if you register one in October, you'll have to re-new it in a month! silly, huh? I registered mine in July, and just got a renewal in the mail the other day. Of course, they don't "prorate" the fee at all. pay the full tab no matter when you register it...
the "excise tax" is separate here, based on the value of the vehicle, and since there isn't really a "book value" on a 1973 trailer, I imagine it'll be pretty low. Haven't got the bill yet.

Our trailer plates all come due at year end. Instead of giving us a sticker we get a new plate every year. I've asked why and the story is that boat trailers and commercial trailers beat up their plates so its easier to replace them all than to segregate travel trailers.....although in Missouri motorhomes get RV plates which in a way is what my trailer is, but I won't go there.

Whats Does It Cost You For Plates On Your RV?
In Illinois, recreational trailers are licensed based on weight. My small, Argosy Minuet is $18.00 per year and is renewed each December - - the renewal arrived before my first license plate as I purchased the trailer in August (my temporary plate expires on November 30). My larger Overlander is $30.00 per year and it also expires in December as do all Recreational Trailers.
My Suburban tow vehicle is licensed as a "B" class truck, and its license is $78.00 per year and is renewed based on the issue date of the original plates. I am going to need to look into the licensing on my Cadillac as it currently has Antique Plates ($30.00 for five years), and it may have to be re-licensed as a regular passenger car when it is used to tow my Argosy to the International Rally next summer - - I am hoping that it may be possible to leave it as is since the car and trailer will be entered in the Vintage Airstream Club's concourse as a matched trailer and tow vehicle.
I just wish that Illinois would adopt collector license plates for RVs similar to what is being done in Ohio. If I remember what I was told correctly, there was a one-time licensing fee and the plate became permanent (without cost) so long as the person purchasing the plate owned the vehicle.
Kevin
P.S. - - I remember living in Kansas and paying over $350 per year to license my eight year old Cadillac (in 1992). My neighbors were paying over $250 per year to license their Layton fifth wheel.

Taxes - hmmmmmmm
AZ bases part of the plate/renewal tab cost on excise, which is value. So the newer it is, the more you pay.
My '66 Overlander cost me $32 for 2 years this past April. I wanted lifetime like my new boat trailer. Boat trailer (26') cost $109 for life.
I do not remember the costs on the cars and truck cause I renew every 2 years and 2001 was a long time ago for this blonde head.

For the 1976 Airstream, I pay $76/year for plates. In Georgia, you pay taxes each year based on the value of the vehicle. For my 2000 Excursion, its about $350.
You get a break when you first register a new vehicle - I just put plates on my "new" 1987 Airstream and only had to pay the $20 tag and title fee - I get a pass on the taxes until the tags expire next July.

Our MH in Florida is $55.00 per year, when we had a trailer it was less, but I do not know the exact cost. There is no additional tax other than the tag fee. But when you buy a new to you vehicle there is a "new plate" fee of 100-125 dollars unless you transfer a plate from another vehicle.

I win
Here in the Granite State (New Hampshire) where we have no income taxes or sales taxes we do have tax on our vehicles.
Last year I paid $750 for a 2001 GMC Suburban and about $1,100 on the 2001 30Ft Excella.
No the plates are not made from Gold.

$16.75 for my last renewal on 6/17/02. It expires on 6/30/03. Truck is around $22.00-24.00 on yearly basis for plates and our county has no wheel tax as with some counties ($35-$50).

In California, as in some other states, trailers of a certain size -- mine's 15' overall -- qualify for Permanent Trailer Identification (PTI) plates. I think it was $7 and I've not paid a renewal fee in the 5 years since I got that plate. After a greater number of years, I think, I might be asked to renew the doggone thing, but otherwise -- NO ANNUAL FEE.
