Sweet 16 (degrees) and all's (mostly) well

Spent the last two nights traveling north from our winter haven. The temperature went to 16 degrees in Payson AZ and 17 Degrees in Colo. City, CO. We turned on our 12 amp electic heater for the nights and the trailer never got below 52 degrees. (The little electric heater is a lot quieter than the furnace for sleeping and the electricy cost was on the RV park.} All water lines were fine. Used the tank heaters so no freeze ups there either. The only bugabu is trying to empty the black and grey tanks. Although the tanks don't freeze, the dump valves do. So had to wait for warmer weather before voiding the tanks. Think I'll invest in some heat tape to wrap the dump valves in the future. Anyone have any experience with heat tape?....or a better idea?

Talking Heat Tape

I used it on all my house and cabin pipes when I lived in the mountains in Ca.
The heat tape works great especialy the one that has a thermostat on the tape that turns the tape on at 40 degrees. All the tape I used was 120v types I do not know if they make it for 12v.
Regards from Russell in windy Tucson Az.
