Flying Cloud Identification

I just bought this flying cloud as a project for my family. I’ve tried identifying the year with no luck. Can anyone help a newbie out?

From the number of panels I was guessing mid-'57 or later. This document suggests it may be the first Flying Cloud built at that width in 1958.

It’s hard to read the tag numbers. It’s either a 56 or a 58 depending on if the second digit is a 3 and the third digit is a 3 or a 5. When you identify exactly what the numbers are, go to Vintage Photo Archives to get info. When you figure it out, let Captain Jones’ Flying Cloud Registry know so it can be logged. Have fun, don’t throw anything away, and ask the questions if needed. Good luck, Bubba

What you have there looks like a 1958 model, first one of the model year.

So, if the number is truly O-3500, then it would be the first Ohio built FC of the 58 model year? If it is, then that is an iconic find. Hope it is. Bubba

O3500 is indeed the first Ohio built 1958 22-foot Flying Cloud. It came off the line the week of 9/30/1957.

One of your alligators must have eaten your photo. Please post one of the street side if you can. From what I understand, back then you could have one built to just about any layout or exterior configuration. Thanks, Bubba
