Brand name of Hitch

Hi, I just wanted to have a poll on what brand of hitch you use. And maybe a brief reason that you have and use it. (ie) I got it with my trailer, The dealer suggested it, or Price. [it was within my budget, or price didn't matter.]

I will start with: My dealer gave it to me free with trailer purchase and I'm very happy with it. "Equal-i-zer"

Keep it clean and simple, no battles please.

There are many models of Reese with differing advantages. I have the older Dual cam model which has done well for me for over 15 years. I also own a Equalizer but I do not think it offers as much of an advantage. At the same weight rating it in much stiffer in the vertical direction than the Reese and would seem to cause a much harsher ride for the trailer, if you have a stiff suspension Tow vehicle.

Thumbs up The Forums Made Me Do It..

After joing the Forum last year, and doing a LOT of research, I knew the

HAHA would be right for us. We have not been disappointed. My co-pilot

is much more comfortable behind the wheel.

And I'm not happy til she's happy

I agree with what Robert said. I may not be worth it, but my wife is.

I bought the Equal-I-Zer after listening to people on the forum. It has been great with my 28' and GMC.

Since purchasing my Overlander in 1995, I have utilized the Reese Stright-Line with Dual Cam Sway Control. I have been pleased with it performance in all of my travels regardless of tow vehicle -- 1995 Chevrolet Z71 K1500 Club Cab Pickup, 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 1999 GMC Suburban K2500, or 1975 Cadillac Eldorado.

The Minuet came with a vintage Reese, no sway control and I needed a different height stinger. By the time I would have upgraded the Reese it came to about the same price as a new Equal-i-zer, so I bought the Equal-i-zer and sold the Reese. I am sure the Reese would have been fine after the upgrades, and I like the Equal-i-zer.

We went with the Hensley based on prior experience with it in the US Customs Service. I know that the price is frighteneing, but the price of Lucy (our Airstream) was also frighteneing. We have not been disappointed. We have now pulled Lucy with the Hensley for almost 30,000 miles, and have not had a single anxious moment. Severe crosswinds and passing semis are absolutely meaningless. The hook up is a learning curve, but worth the effort.

I've used Reese hitches in one form or another for almost 25 years so went with one again for the A/s, the dual cam Strait-line. The HaHa was just too much money for our limited budget, which would have been the other choice in my book.

Were currently using a Reese with weight distribution bars of 750 lbs.
For years we had just a simple drop hitch with no problems with the same combo.

First was a Eas-y-Lift (spelled "whatever") - came with the trailer.
Second was a Reese Dual Cam. Came with the trailer. Better than the first.
Just installed a Hensley - but haven't taken any trips yet.

After a lot of online research and input from this forum and other RV forums, I purchased the Equal-i-zer and it has performed very well.

I'm one of the people that checked "other". My latest hitch is a round bar weight distributing hitch, believe it's a Curt brand, and was purchased from Hitchesonline.com for $269. That was the cheapest I could find, and it works just fine...no troubles. After all, it's really not rocket science.

Due to the heavy hitch weight of my slide out, I had to upgrade hitch and receiver to a Class V unit. I decided to change from my Reese Dual-Cam to the Equal-i-zer based on the positive feedback my dealer had gotten from previous Reese owners making the same change. I've had no second thoughts regarding that decision.

Hitches

Hensley came with AS, former owner purchase from dealer. We knew about the Hensley prior to purchase. No problems with crosswinds or 18 wheelers. Hitching up is a snap, I have a mirror from Camping World for tailgate to watch the event.
Leaving on 3 month trip end of march and looking forward to the easy towing with the hensley.

We started with a Reese, then went to the Equalizer and now have wound up with the Hensley.

We got really tired of fighting the crosswinds and passing semis that are a common element when heading east and west on I-40 through Texas, NM and Arizona. Now after two years and 30,000 miles of towing with the Hensley, I wouldn't have anything less.

Some other helpful things are that I can hook up faster with the Hensley and when backing can turn much tighter. Adjusting the weight distribution bars is also much more user friendly than messing with chains.

All boiled down, I've seen too many Airstreams (especially larger ones) that have rolled, all had Reese or Equalizer equipment mounted on the A Frame. None had a Hensley.
