Cold Weather Package

My 2004 Classic 28' reportedly came with the "Cold Weather Package". I'm not the original owner. Does anyone know what features comprised the "Cold Weather Package" in this trailer?

From what I recall, there is no "cold weather" option. Of course I am usually wrong... hope you get an answer.. If not, call the Mothership with your VIN and they can give you the answer.

My guess would be whomever was selling it "worded" it up. The AC with the heat pump was optional, so if it has it, that was probably enough to call it "cold weather package" or maybe it came with an Airstream Gray Sherpa Blanket too ; )

Is the cold weather package the one containing the two sets of wool caps and gloves complete with Airstream logos? 😂

Cheers Richard

That is a new one for me. Never heard of an Airstream "cold weather package". Maybe he was embellishing the included insulation and tank heaters if installed in your model.

Maybe the heated tank enclosure (cold weather protection) is what the seller was trying to describe? It is mentioned in your owners manual under "Winter Traveling".

When the furnace runs, part of the hot air goes beneath the floor to keeps the water lines and water tanks from freezing.

At one time, Airstream had a double pane window option. The space between the two panes was filled with argon gas.

My 2006 Safari uses 12 volt powered heat strips to heat the tanks. No hot air is routed to them by the heater.

But, the OP was asking about his 28' Classic.

Thanks for the info.
In 2006 both 22' and 23' use heat pads. Any idea why Airstream chose to do that?
25' and up use the furnace that year.

I don't think that the furnace in the smaller models uses ductwork. Without ducts, there is no way to get warm air to the tanks below the floor.

No cold weather package I've heard of in Airstreams. Most have a small piece of duc work pointed down into the holding tank area. Our 2017 Classic has heat strips on the holding tanks, but in cold weather travel we either dump the water out totally, blow and or travel with the Alde heat system on to keep the trailer at about 70 degrees and thereby keep the pipes from freezing.
