Which caulking should I use?
Ive been working on getting my '79 back up to par and while working on some of the exterior lights I have noticed some of the gray caulking on top of the windows and gutters has shrank, dried and can easily be scraped off with my fingernail. Im sure this topic has been beat to death but I want to double check against my examples.
On the pictures below I have highlighted in blue the areas in question that I want to start resealing. What do y'all recommend?
Also, what's best for sealing mounting holes and wire holes for clearance lights?

Trempro 635 (used to be Vulkem).

Parbond for small seams, Trempro 635 for large seams. Get them both at Vintage Trailer Supply or Out Of Doors Mart.

Ok, thank you for your input.
Also, since silicone is a no-no from what Ive read, what is the word on Lexel?
Lexel® - The superior alternative to silicone.
I use it quite a bit where I work and I think its great. Ive used it to seal shower stalls, cracks in brick, and seal A/C drip pans and have had great success. I was thinking about using it to seal around my vista view windows as they are a bit leaky and dont have the time or money to fix them quite yet.

It's not polyurethane, so don't use it.

I used a (shh...silicone) windshield sealant around my leaking vista views where the grey stuff had broken. I used this product to seal the glass into the frames as a temporary fix. I use Vulkem/Trempro for VV window frame to trailer seal.
My vista views are different than yours.
If you are using the Lexel for the glass to frame, maybe ok? I couldn't read/see if it contains acetic acid which would etch the aluminum for any other application.

I've been using the Lexal and am satisfied. It's available at my local hardware store.

We resealed our 77 Sovereign in January. We used a polyureathane sealant by 3M called 540. It comes in a few different colors. We've seen some trailer owners use clear sealant and considered it. After I scrapped all the old sealant off, I could see a little bit of etching in the aluminum from where someone had probably used silcone at one time. We ordered gray 540 and that helped to cover most of the etching.
You'll want to seal more than what you have highlighted in your picture. Reseal all seam laps, and all the way around all windows and anywhere water could find a way in.
My trailer is 31 feet long. I ordered 6 tubes of 540 and had one left over. Of course it depends on how generous you are with the sealant.

I think Leaks - Weatherstrips, Gaskets, Caulks & Sealants needs a sticky that has a definitive list of all of the different areas on Airstreams effected by leaks with lists for each area of appropriate sealants, gaskets, and fixes for each.
Just my .02¢

It's easier to make a list of areas not affected by leaks.

At the very least the most common ones, sunlights, a/c seals, roof vents, areas above all the windows and doors, vista views and body line, ect. Im just learning all of this so I'm in the dark about a lot.
Perhaps an administrator can set up a voting thread so a list of areas can be compiled by those who have been effected by it. Once a list has been made, people can submit their fixes.
