'74 Sovereign - Vent Fan

This trailer is new to me...love it! A 31ft model, it has a vent in the living area. In the vent is a fan to which I can find no switch...it may have been disabled at one point but I would like to restore it to help with condensation issues. Anyone out there have any insight as to where the original location of the switch would be? The wiring may still be intact although hidden somehow.

If it is original, the switch is in the vent. When the vent is fully opened, the switch transfers power to the fan.

You need to remove the plastic light cover and the plate that holds the light bulbs to the ceiling to get to the switch.

As mentioned previously there is a tiny switch in place that is activated by the lift mechanism when you crank the vent cover open.
We have a '74 Sovereign and the previous owner must have ran into the same problem that you are having and found out that the little switch was faulty.
His solution was to by pass the switch and drill the light cover and install a small toggle switch to operate the fan.
I think the installation of a toggle switch may be a positive thing as you can open the vent and then choose whether the fan would be on or off.
At some point you may want to consider purchasing new light covers - we did and the difference is unreal. We also converted the original incadescent bulbs to LED'S and the difference is like night and day.
There is a shroud that circles the fan. Our shroud was broken up and we were fortunate in being able to buy a used shroud that was in good condition.

Hello, one more thing...I was told there was a fuse in with the vent fan somewhere that could be blown...is that a possibility with my 74 Sovereign?

The fuse for that fan (and the light it is part of) is attached to the blue wire. If you know where your fusebox is, just look for the blue wire and pull and check the fuse.

If you don't know where it is, get on your knees in front of the curbside rear closet, and, with a flash light, look in the bottom right corner for a little blue box. Pull down the door and voila, there they are.

ps: this assumes you have a rear bath model, and have not had the 120V to 12V converter changed

Someone has installed some nice resettable circuit breakers. The items with the 20 on them are 20 Amp circuit breakers. The other items look like a shunt, used in for the current meter in your panel. Doesn't look factory at all so you might have to get out some pen and paper and try to draw out the circuits.

Not sure from the photo, but it also looks as though you MAY have a newer 120V to 12V converter in behind there. That would be good news, too.

If you can find a make and model number on it, we can confirm that..?
