We have a 1966 Caravel. PO had separated the rear bathroom with just a thin curtain (yikes! NO privacy!) We're looking to put in some sort of folding accordian door--anyone have any suggestions on where to look? Whatever it is, it would have to be custom b/c the opening is 24 3/4 x 72 3/4.

Tried Vintage Trailer supply but the smallest door they have is too big still. Other options we're considering are united shade pleated fabric doors or a custom accordian door.

I have the same trailer - 66 Caravel. The original acordian door came with it but it was in poor shape. I have posted my solution before so you may find it in my thread history and use the search option above for other solutions.

I got mine at Home Depot - there will be tons of flack to follow for this post. Cheap -YES, Light Weight - YES, buy hey, mine has been in for over a year and looks good, good color match and so far has shown no problems with service lfe. Around $30 at Home Depot. Look in the acordian door section - available online, I had to cut to fie - I left about an inch opening at the bottom. BTW - I used the original slide rail (metal) vice the one that came with the door. I beefed up the punched holes in the plastic with brass gromits that I got in a kit from HD and that should make it lat longer.

They have a 26" X 72" door.
That is 1 1/4 inches wider then your opening.
It sounds like a perfect fit as you would not want the door to be to tight on closing.

I have an accordian door on my home office that I purchased at Lowes for about $30 that may very well be like the one mentioned earlier from Home Depot. The type of construction could easily be cut shorter to what ever length you want. It does come in different widths but the one that I have for a 30" wide opening could easily work for smaller widths without modification.

Our '66 Tradewind has a 2 panel folding hollow door that travels a track on top. If yours is a rear bath you probably could find a door and hardware at a salvage yard or if you have basic cabinet skills build one. The panels could then be made fom the same wood in your trailer or stained to match.

Thanks All--We looked at Home Depot and found the accordian doors--will have to cut a few inches off the bottom to make it fit but it may be awhile since my husband had taken it upon himself to replace all the plumbing. If you do cut the door, are there any problems with leaving the hollow part open?

I would cut a tight insert of wood, pine is ok, and glue them in. If the cut is snug you should not have to use nails. When dry the glue will keep the inserts in place. Doing that will keep the hollow panel strong and spiders homeless.

An alternative way to fill the cut ends would be to stuff in some wadded up paper or maybe cotton balls and then sqeeze in some caulking material. You can probably smooth it off with a popsicle stick or even trim it some once it has curred. Since it is on the bottom end it does not even have to be a color match.
