Broken latch/lock

Hi!

We are new to the airstream forum and we are in pursuit of one to repair/make our own

Anyway, we found a 1975 sovereign we are looking at No major structural issues except that the precious owners before the Current ones used a screw driver to get in an out of a it. It now doesn't stay fully closed and there is water damage. My husbands primary concern is if the door is fixable and how big of an issue it is. I don't know how to attach photographs, but I can attach a link of the listing... Hoping that is permissible!

Would anyone be able to chime in and advise? I would be
Very grateful! Thank you so much

you can buy latch parts here:

the door looks sprung. might have to take the door off and flex it over a 6x6 board gently til it fits the hole correctly again. we use boards in door openings of cars sometimes but you don't want to bend the door opening of the trailer. just be gentle and finesse it slowly so you dont go too far.

The door can be re-contoured by removing the inner skin and KT lock parts are available as previously posted. With the inner skin removed it is much easier to accomplish. I'm not sure when Airstream quite using the Cast Aluminum door frames but it is close to your year. The cast frames cracked easily and if cracked would need to be welded. It looks like the door flew open while towing.
