How to get the Victron BMV-712 to stop scrolling?

What is the BMV-712 supposed to do when it is idle? I would like that little external display to be completely OFF: no light, no scrolling, no status. Is that even possible?

I went through the Bluetooth setup and everything looks ok. Setup up my dual Trojan batteries per the excellent guide at AM Solar. Capacity 225Ah. Disabled all display features entirely.

Yet the unit still scrolls something like "Battery capacity..." repeatedly. Won't this kill the battery?

Thanks!

Press the setup button on the monitor itself. That should fix the problem.

Ok I'll try that.

And that's all- just a single press? It won't go into some "setup" mode after that?

I don't know if you can choose a hard 'off' setting, but the BMV-712 draws .7 ah per MONTH. It will have absolutely zero material effect on your batteries. I put my trailer (with t105s also) in storage 9 weeks ago, in a cold winter environment, with the batteries switched completely off via a Blue Seas switch. During that nine weeks I visited twice and turned on the batteries to run the furnace, for a total of probably 90 minutes. When I went by yesterday to check on things, the batteries were sitting at 12.6 volts. With them switched completely off, it is like they are sitting on a shelf and the self discharge rate is very low, with the BMV 712 drawing virtually nothing. Don't worry about it.

It’s in setup mode now. That should get you out of it.
