Added Charge Controller for Portable Solar Panels
After musing for a while on what to do to add portable solar capability to our trailer, I finally figured it out. I recently purchased a Goal Zero solar generator that came with a 100 Watt portable panel. I have since purchased a second panel. So now I want to be able to use these panels on the trailer as well as the solar generator. GZ uses Anderson Powerpole connectors so I got a panel mount connector to mount on the Airstream. I mounted it to the storage box on the A-frame (on newer trailers it is the battery box). Now for the charge controller, the GZ panels do not have a charge controller. I found a small MPPT 300 Watt charge controller from Powerwerx, so I picked that up. I just finished wiring it all up and tested it out today. Everything worked great! Now I have 400 Watts of solar on the roof and have portable capability too for those times that the trailer is shaded.
