Options on dealing with vent/lighting

I am refitting a 74 trade wind and want to change the lighting to LED . Has any one come up with and attractive way to handle the center ceiling vent / light situation refitting with LED. I have a white plastic tray which has the fan hood crank projecting out of it and the square light bulb array. I would like to see what others have done.

Take a look through the general restoration threads, of which there are many. In most cases people don't try to keep the stock lighting. There are a wide variety of replacement options that make sense in the course of a full interior remodel, including the recessed LED pucks that people seem to like. A few people keep the stock light for its vintage look and it can be converted using retrofit bulbs, fairly successfully since there's plenty of room and air movement so they don't tend to overheat.

I am a big fan of fluorescent lighting for general interior illumination but I think I'm the only one who feels that way.

You are not alone. I replaced every incandescent light in our trailer with flourescents, with the exception of the reading lights, etc, which I replaced with LEDs. They are brighter, cooler, and draw less power than bulbs.
