Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't fix something in your rig. For some of us, moving on with life isn't an option. As a purist, I make the most of life and find a solution to the problem!
Plus, I just live to prove people wrong when they tell me I can't do something.
Sometimes it means cutting my nose off to spite my face, but it's not in my nature to give up. Case in point, my Armstrong A/C has been going strong for 37 years. Two weeks ago, the compressor wouldn't come on. A "certified" RV A/C repair guy came out to diagnose the problem. After two hours of labor, he told me my compressor was shot. I got a second opinion from the campground manager, who is a master electrician (I found this out after I had the tech out). Within 30 seconds he diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor relay. I went to the local electrical contractor store, bought the part and after everything was replaced and buttoned up, the Armstrong fired right up. I'm freezing now! LOL!!!! By the way, I got my money back for the two hours of labor, after the "certified" tech came back out to verify I had fixed it....talk about feeling dumb!
