Inline filter kitchen sink

Does anyone have a picture of the inline filter under the kitchen sink? The owners manuel states there is a inline filter with bypass valve for winterizing. The previous owner had modified the filter. I have a 2017 30' flying cloud.
Thanks
Kevin

The inline filter in my trailer is replaced by a straight piece of PEX with a male thread fitting on each end for winterization.

This is the filter. It also requires male threaded adapters on each end.

By coincidence, I just removed the in-line filter from under the kitchen sink today with the intent of replacing it.

It is the PENTEK GS-10RO, but I am not sure if it is the B model (1/4") or the C (3/8"). I think it must be the 3/8", but the opening seems closer to 1/2".

would you happen to know the size?

thanks for your help.

IIRC the threaded adapter is 3/8" into the filter and 3/4" for going into the PEX threaded coupling.

We don't bother with that filter because it only filters water coming out of the kitchen faucet. We use an outside filter instead, where the hose enters the trailer and that protects the entire system from grit or whatever else comes in from the outside. Yep, we also use that filter when putting water into the fresh tank. Problem solved, no more fiddling with pipes under the sink.

We have the outside filter too. We also use the filter under the galley sink and a Brita pitcher and filter. Some may think this is overkill, but we like to triple filter our drinking water.

I think this filter is more for removing tastes (chlorine) before drinking the water. This is handy as I add chlorine to the fresh water tank every time I fill if I don't know the water source safety.

I was preparing to replace my filter this morning when I saw this thread. I purchased the filter but it did not come with adapters and am wondering if I can reuse the ones on the old filter when I take it out or if I need to purchase new ones?

Thanks everyone!

thanks for the information!

I plan on re-using the fittings. just need to clean up. do not seem aged out.

Just to be clear, these do not filter out bad microbes and/or parasites, etc., correct? Do the external filters?

I also use a water softener when we hook up. this has made a big difference in the quality of water.

I eliminated the sink filter and now use a filter that treats all water entering the trailer. The whole trailer filter was almost the same price as the sink filter.

You can also use the more easily found and less expensive Camco filters by buying inexpensive brass thread adapters from your local plumbing contractor supply store. Take the old filter and the new filter in and they’ll sell you the correct thread adapters. Cheap and easy.

Thanks everyone!
You can reuse the original threaded adapters. I changed mine to brass though as I thought the nylon may start to leak after some time.

Neither these filter or even the external Camco type filters filter out microbes, they only are for taste and particles that is why I add chlorine to each tank fill for water sources that I am not sure about. The under sink filter will take out the chlorine taste.

We use the same inline setup as Ray B and use an outdoor filter as well. The inline filter gets a little tough for me to change because there is not much room to maneuver under the sink.

Inline filter on kitchen sink

It seemed that no matter how much Teflon tape I put on those connections, or how tight I turned them, we ended up with water on that shelf. I, too, do not use that filter. For drinking water, we bring bottled. My solution: I went to Home Depot and bought a 3/8" quarter turn water valve with a Shark bite connector, and I cut all that filter line completely out, and connected the cold water side to the valve and the sink line to the valve. Now, Voila, no more leaks.

When we purchased our 2016 FC 25 the dealer at our orientation suggested we remove the under the sink filter and utilize an outside filter which we have done. As a previous responder to this thread stated we also use the same outside filter while filling our internal water tank. Also, instead of using chlorine/chlorox we use white vinegar solution to sanitize our internal tank once or twice a year. There is virtually no after taste.

Here’s the filter used on my 2016 FCFBT
Pentek GS-10RO-B 10 inch x 2 inch... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KDYFW4...o_pop_ma_share

It’s the 1/4 inch thread and I reused the adapters

This thread inspired me to look for the filter in my 2019 FC 27. As hard as I look I can't seem to find one, which leads me to believe I don't have one, which is fine by me, as I use an outside filter when hooked up and filling my tank as well as a Brita pitcher for coffee and drinking.

We use the Camco outside filter (between the water hose and a short hose to connect to the AS inlet). The one thing I really like about this is that I like to store my filter in the fridge at home after a camping trip so I can use it again and again, until I feel that it's been "used up." Otherwise, if it stays connected under a sink during disuse, it's going to get stale and possibly moldy, no?

Actually, now that I think about it, instead of a short hose that connects to the AS inlet, my husband made a little set-up with pvc piping that connects to the inlet and goes down to about 5" above the ground and that is where the filter connects. I think his idea was to keep any high winds from whipping the filter and/or hose into the side of the AS.

I couldn't add a pic to this reply, so I changed my profile pic to show the connection. Just click my user name, then see public profile and it will pop up.
