Aquajet noisy? Why no more 3-way refrigs?

New to Airstream trailering .... just purchased a new (2002 model) in late October......have noticed that the waterpump is noisier than the one in my now-traded Jamboree.

Are Aquajets noisy? Had a SurFlo in the Jambo, I think. Also after I shut off the pump, I hear a strange growling, gurgling sound for about a minute when leaving the faucet open to relieve stress????? Is something wrong?

I think the last time we had a three-way refrigerator was in our Vacationeer 5er......Jambo didn't have it.....Airstream doesn't either. Why did they quit that refrigerator setup?

Sorry about the mix of questions; I have a lot more but will save them for later.

Kistler

PS--anybody reading this in the Southern AZ unit of WBCCI?

Aquajet noisy? Why no more 3-way refrigs?

Greetings Kistler!

I don't know whether the 3-Way refrigerator is an option for new Airstreams or not, but assume that it must be as my Airstream dealer had one in-stock for replacement. When it came time for a new refrigerator in my '64 Overlander, I chose a 3-Way Dometic and couldn't be happier - - I too had one in a 1980 Nomad that I owned and had missed the travel convenience of 12-volt operation. The new units with Automatic Energy Selectors are really nice - - my 1980 coach had manual controls but the new unit installed in my Overlander has fully automated controls.

Am happy you two replied....because know nothing here....I wasn't/didn't have opitions...it was in stock.....like I say my wife wandered around the lot....yikes.. cost about 14,000 more than a Safari which we went to buy...

It is just strange after 9 years of a "demand" system to hear all these strange noises....part of the prob is I expect the Airsteam to be PRETTY Perfect for the price.

Cool

Your Aquatec pump is a higher volume pump . There is a set screw (allen) on the head of the pump that can be adjusted which will adjust pressure and reduce noise. Also a 12" flexible hose can be added at pump to reduce vibration. Your pump is probably working fine.

I also miss the three way refrigerators. I don't see them being installed anymore in new SOB units either. I guess it had a lot to do with the draw on the battery.

I used to travel with the 12 volt side on in my old Hi-Lo. The only problem was occasionaly the feed in the Bargeman outlet would not be making good contact and I would get to my campsite with a dead battery....and guess what, if the battery was dead the top on the Hi-Lo wouldn't raise. I soon learned to turn on an inside light when I hooked up. If it brightened up upon connection to my tow vehicle, I knew I had a good connection.
