Sticky Black Water Valve

My black water valve is getting hard to push in and out. Mostly in. The arms are showing signs of rust. Is there a good way to address this? Can I oil these arms?

I had this problem on a previous SOB trailer and solved it by using a black water treatment that had a lubricant in it. I recall it may have been coconut oil. After about 2 dumps, the valve worked smoothly ever after.

wal mart has a product that lubes the valve. i clean my tanks and close them up and dump some of the conditioner in the empty tank. has worked for me. also do a good clean out when you dump. i always dump 5 gal of water down the toilet after i dump to get the desidue out. and i always see toilet paper in the out flow. that may be your problem closing down on residue.

Funny you should mention coconut oil . . . I had a friend suggest the same thing. So far, the oil seems to working fine. I do have a question though when I'm hosing out the black water tank; Does this water go directly into the tank? So when someone suggest filling with 5 gallons after cleaning are you talking about from this point or actually flushing from the toilet because that would seem to me to wear out the toilet a lot faster. Any thoughts?
