So embarrassed!

I put a racing stripe on the passenger side of my 1987 345 (concrete post). I ripped out the awning struts for the zipdee awning. Where is the most trustworthy place to go to get this repaired in Arizona.

The dealer in Tucson, does great body work.

I would also suggest Oasis RV in Tucson.
Tucson, Arizona, Used, Travel Trailers, Parts, Service, Financing

Tell me you didn't do that? Oh my! Concrete posts always win. Care to share any pictures, or is it just too embarrassing?

Is there someone else besides Oasis in Tucson?

I try to force myself to take a picture. Being a girl, I sat down and cried.

Mike.

Not really.

There are 2 things to consider.

1. Does the dealer have Airstream body work experience.

2. Is the dealer, an Airstream dealer? If not, that non-Airstream dealer cannot buy parts from the factory, and must buy them from an authorized dealer. That makes the repair bill typically go sky high.

In the words of REM, everybody hurts, sometimes. One man's dent is another man's "patina of age."

I'm dropping it off in Tucson on Thursday. Adult children are complaining about having to be my round trip car service.

Don't beat yourself up. Any landing where nobody is hurt is a successful one. After all, it's only a scratch.

Hi Sharptalk -

You're OK, the A/S is OK, albeit with a bit of cosmetic surgery required. These things happen - you should have seen the Airstream I saw in the shop when I was picking up my first trailer.... Huge hole in the side - required MUCHO work. Turns out it was an older gentleman taking his Classic out for the inaugural spin. He was distracted by an apparently noisy grandchild and next thing you know, he's gouged a huge hole in the side - on what, who knows. But it wasn't pretty.

I'm sure everyone's got a horror story. A number of years back, we took a trip to Cape Cod with my in-laws' monster 5th wheel. This was before we bought The Next Exit book, and so we weren't savvy w/r to gas stations and size requirements. Long, painful story short, DH pulled into a tight spot to fill up the truck and didn't see a concrete post until it was too late. It somehow got wedged in the frame at the back end of the trailer. The gas station attendant had to get a 2x4 to try to maneuver the back end of the trailer around the post - otherwise it looked like the entire back section was going to rip off.

Talk about embarrassment! It was awful, but life happens.

(thank goodness the learning curve was on the in-laws' sob - and not on our Airstreams )

LOL! Thanks for the stories guys. Now I have to decide whether or not to put it through the insurance on the chance that a) they won't cover it, or b) they raise my rates.

Oh boy.. that post just jumped out there and grabbed on didnt it..
Hopefully the insurance will come through and make it right. Would be a shame to total a nice rig like that and forevermore have the racing stripe....
