Sealing - question re: Plews Lubricant-matic Pump

I got this lubri-matic pump from Airstream as part of a sealer kit. I've seen them, once attached on a can of sika-flex sealer, but how do you get that spring in? Looks like it goes in the bottom of the pump assembly (at left) and then in the bottom, at right, with the pin (held at the top by the handle) holding it all together. But I cannot get that spring to compress enough to attach the pin - heck, not even enough to slide the bottom barrel over the top. It can't be this difficult.
What am I missing?

My pump came assembled. Looks like yours is defective. I can't imagine why it is apart.

The "pin" goes I to the end of the nozzle to help seal from evaporation of the solvent. Putting the whole thing in a ziplock bag also helps a lot.

I would ask AS to send you a functional pump.

Thanks. That is good info. Mine came in the pieces you see, in the box, loose as you see. And I should have been more clear.
I was referring to the "pin" that is actually a long lever that runs from the handle down through the black housing and hooks into ths bottom barrel. It holds too and bottom together and with the handle actuates the pumping action.
I was hoping to avoid sending it back but giving them a call is a good idea. I'm sure whoever fills orders won't have a clue. My fear is they exchange it... With another box of the component parts!

It is rare you had that happen.. I would give them a chance to make it right.

Just got off the phone with "Carly" from Airstream customer service, who said it should have arrived only having to screw in the nozzle. (And my apologies for assuming they wouldn't "have a clue.") They will send one out today, with a "call tag" for me to return the other one.

You were right - Airstream wanted to "make it right."

A follow-up: first, it was 'Amy' at Airstream, not who I thought above, who deserves the thanks. Second, below is what this expensive pump SHOULD look like, out of the box. Note. The spring that bedeviled me attaches around the pump link (what I first called a pin) that attaches to the handle and the pump bottom.
