Any idea what these are for?

I'm having the tires replaced on my new-to-me 26RBT FC. The tire guy can't get the tire off of the rims because of some type of band. Anyone know what they are and their purpose?

Is there a tire pressure sensor attached to the band?

I believe it's one of these: https://www.tyron-usa.com

They are intended to help in the event of a blow-out. Guessing that a previous owner installed them and paid a pretty penny for them.

Wow! I am kind of an old guy. Thought I had seen everything.
NOPE!

Didn't know that kind of thing exists. However, looks like the actual application is serious HD usage. Airstream, yeah maybe not so much.

But for those that want main battle tank protection without the turret, here you go. Another gizmo to waste dollars on while not paying attention to what is happening behind you.

Bingo, Richard5933!! The tire guy figured it out and the tires are now mounted. I had him remove them but still in my posession.

I wonder if I could find anyone that would be interested in them? I don't think I'd add them myself unless possibly to the steering wheels of a class A if I had one.
