Nuts! I've got NO NUTS (on the top of the shocks).

OK, so this was going to be a post about my latest improvement to our 2019 FC 25, a brand new set of custom fitted (is there another way?) set of Mud Flaps.

The right/curb rear tire is off and I was cleaning up the wheel well before I started the install and my arm leaned against the right rear shock. It moved and luckily the frame stopped it from coming off. Further inspection showed the right front nut was also missing from the top of that shock. The left/street side appears to have the nuts installed but I can't confirm until I can get better access.

If it's just the one missing, possibly came off (the trailer has about 7500 miles on it). Understandable, somewhat. Both right side nuts missing makes me think someone was asleep at the wheel during assembly.

AS has been good to me over the years about repairs and I'm pretty sure it will be taken care of under warranty but... both of my right nuts are missing. No inference implied, just the facts.

Might suggest you may want to check your nuts (on the top of the shocks) on any recent builds.

I know the work it takes to actually r&r shocks, been there, done that. Chances are slim they might fall off, however...

A bit 'tongue in cheek' but really the running gear should get some kind of a cursory inspection before going on the road, not totally surprised but still disappointed.

One should always check their nuts when going out on the road.

Update: I checked the other shock nuts this morning and six out of 8 were there, barely.
They were no more than finger tight and on the end of the threads.

I snugged them up enough to put pressure on the rubber bushings and show about 1/8" of thread. I'm not sure what the torque should be since they squeeze a rubber bushing.

I don't think this had anything to do with A/S manufacturing. I believe the chassies come in pre-assembled.

The nuts are 1/2" x 13 (Flanged). A quick trip to NAPA and the local hardware store took care of the missing nuts & washers. Don't need to deal with any warranty repairs. This was easy enough once I found the hardware and now have the 2 rear tires off.

Time to get the mud flaps installed!
