1966 Overlander 3-Burner cook top...and Vent?

I just stripped a kazillion coatings of aluminum spray paint off of the cover, bottom, burner liners etc.......on the magic chef cook top and they don't look too bad (better than with the paint on). What they are made of? Stainless, Chrome? Has anyone recoated them, can you do that with stainless? They are a little corroded in areas.
Also, the vent still works but is rusted and rotted and the same thing here, lots of paint...any ideas? I was thinking of taking the whole thing out and goint to a machinist to have them copy it in stainless, could be expensive......can you still buy them...is there something else that works? Let me know!

DureeD,

I have this unit in my '67. The cover is Stainless, but it is not A304 (rustproof) Stainless. The lower prtion that houses the burners is chrome plated... mine is peeling badly. I'm thinking of having it all coated with a chrome powdercoat.

If you decide to have your unit reconstructed please post a follow-up with the details.
