Keep/Repair or Replace this fridge?

Hi Friends I have a 1973 27 Foot Overlander that had to be gutted (unfortunately) the gas lines were sketchy at best. I removed the fridge (cutting the gas lines to it) and am wondering should I try and get it repaired and try and restore it, or if it is better to just purchase a new one. It is going to be a long time till I will need a fridge we have about 1000 steps before I will be ready for that! Thoughts?

Replace it!! Get the measurements of the fridge you want and work around that when doing the restoration.

Does it still work?

I have a 71 in which the fridge still works, but, the Piezo lighter would not. I cut a 3" hole in the bulkhead near the door and use a longhandled lighter to light the pilot.

I don't think you will be able to find a replacement fridge of the same dimension.

There is a place in Elkhart, I think that will rebuild the cooling unit. I think it cost about $300 not counting the shipping to and from.
