Terraport?

I am heading up to way up north Wisconsin next weekend to pick up my new to me trailer. Checking out the maps it looks like detouring over to Jackson Center will only add a couple of hundred miles to my round trip. At this point I do not know if there is any potential work for them to do but this will be my first chance to visit the plant. If space is available do they take unannounced drop ins at the Terraport? If space is not available are there any close RV parks to spend a couple of nights.

If you are planning on having work performed at the service center, and there are spaces available, you can use the Terraport.
As far as just dropping by for a visit and using the Terraport, I think they look at that in the same way you would probably look at friends or relatives showing up for an overnight stay in your spare bedroom.

Thank you for opinion, but poor analogy. Actually friends and relatives are always welcome at my house. Maybe that is just a Mississippi thing.

I went to the classifieds and saw it, looks real nice. You going to keep the L-Couch or go back with a recliner?

If you do the service center/factory tour, tell us about it.
We have a service center appointment Tuesday, September 16.
We plan to stay at least 2 nights in the Terraport.

I'm not sure Overlander63 meant that in a negative way. Possibly you are both saying the same thing. The Terraport is there for Airstream owners. If you are getting service work done, you can stay in the Terraport free of charge. If you are just visiting or passing through, it is $10 per night. I think that shows great hospitality.

Going to have to test the relaxation quotient of the couch before making that decision.

Thank you, that is what I was asking. Hopefully no shop work will be required, will not know that until after I inspect and pick it up. I tried to find someone locally to inspect but had no responses from any of the Wisconsin listed or my thread request. Pretty sure if I get to Jackson Center I will at least spend some money in the store.

I'm pretty sure you can just pull in and hook up, pay about $10 next morning in the office, if there is space. There's a sign at the Terraport giving similar instructions.

Just give a call to the Airstream Store. The two girls there are cashiers for the Store, Service Center, and Terraport and they can give you latest info and tell you if there is any space. If using Service Center there is no charge for camping.

We have stopped by several times, never charged us. We always have called ahead and were told that terraport is first come, first served for those without a service appointment. however, there was always many open spots Appointments for service are needed, almost always a several week wait.

The OP might want to book a space for a thorough inspection and leak test so he is aware of any issues as he heads for home.

Excellent suggestion. Any idea what that would cost? I can give them a call on Monday.

I meant my comment the way you took it.
If I had meant it the other way, I would have said "strangers and in-laws"...

Call them for current prices. We had the Seal-Tec leak test and their 27-Point Inspection done last fall and I believe it's around 6-7 hours labor for the two, in the neighborhood of $700-$800. If your wheel bearings need repack this is good time to do it because I think they pull the wheels to check bearing runout and brakes as part of the inspection.

I did it because the trailer was nearly two years old and warranty about to expire. And they check and adjust little things like propane gas pressure, which was low. They found several small leaks which they fixed that I had already identified with my Sonin Moisture Test Meter. I was well satisfied and maybe slept a little better afterwards.

We maintain our trailer well, but I like the idea of their experience looking it over well and checking for leaks. I'll probably do it every again every couple of years or so when passing near the area in our travels.

I was just there, and was told that if you are not getting work done, they will charge $10.00 per night. Free if they are working on your AS.

Doug, price is steep but worth it if they catch any issues before they get out of control. Thank you
