Need grades info of GA Hwy 183, 52 and US 76
Planning a short trip from Athens GA to Blue Ridge/Toccoa River KOA in a couple weeks. We have towed the 5K lb 26 ft Argosy into the foot hills up around Clayton and Helen with no problem whatsoever with our '79 Buick Electra Estate Wagon, but not into the mountain passes of Ga Hwy 183 and 52 from Dawaonville to Elijay and then US 72 to Blue Ridge While we have an 03 Silverado HD we typically tow with up into the northern states we would really like to put the Estate Wagon to a bit of a test/challenge. The Wagon has been outfitted with rear antisway, coil over shocks, beefed up front suspension, new brakes all around, beefed up transmission, the 403 has plenty of power and a 3 row Al radiator and twin transmission coolers to keep her cool.
I am just not familiar with this route and would like to hear from others who are, and can tell if there are any really steep grades that may be combined with sharp curves etc. We took the Wagon alone on the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway last year and she handled like an overgrown sports car.
Will appreciate anybodies experience on this route. Again Ga Hwy 183 and 52 from Dawaonville to Elijay and then US 72 up to Blue Ridge
