splitting off a/c or microwave 1994 34' Excella

has anyone done this? currently the trailer is used stationary in an RV park with 120v AC available. The park has a 50A and two 20A outlets. the setup now is that the 30A trailer line plugs into a 50A adapter and the 15A outlets are unused. does the roof top AC have a regular plug on it that i can plug directly into one of the 20A outlets? is there an easy way to run a line from the microwave/convection oven to the outside? in the florida heat, things heat up before i get done cooking. *whine*

You have at least 2 options; one option is to add a priority switch so that either the microwave or A/C is the master, the other option is to change out your existing breaker box to a larger one and wire it for 50amp service. I recently did the later option on our trailer and it works great.

besides the box and cable, what wiring is required? any idea of the cost?

I got the new breaker box (about $15) at Lowes as well as the new breakers. I bought a stainless steel Marinco socket (about $175) for the rear of the trailer on-line. I only had to run an extra length of Romex from the socket to the new breaker box. So for less than $200 - $250 you can do it yourself.

i have the overhead switch in the overhead storage that flips between ac and microwave. it would seem that i need to run a seperate line for the microwave to the breaker box.

That is called an "either or" switch. I bet that if you look at your breaker panel or wiring diagram, that you will find both appliances are on one circuit which is why you have the "either or" switch. You may be able to separate them and add a breaker if you have a space or spare in your breaker box.
