120 volt / 12 volt

Hey, great resource!
I would appreciate a little advice on an electrical issue. I have a permanent camp spot with my 74 31 excella parked. Someday I would like to restore it but now, I just need some 12 volt advice. The trailer has not had a battery for 10 years and the (original)univolt (that was getting pretty loud) has stopped providing 12 volt power. To avoid the expense of a new inverter that I don't require I would like to know if anyone has used a simple 120 to 12 volt converter to power the lights and exhaust fans. My 120 v system works great. I have some electrical knowledge and tools. Any help would be appreciated.

That's exactly what a "univolt" is, a 120 VAC to 12 volt DC converter. Actually, it puts out closer to 14 volts to keep the battery charged, but a converter it is.

You don't need an inverter. That turns DC into AC. You need a converter, a transformer/rectifier that turns AC into DC. I would check with Randy

sales@bestconverter.com

to find something to fit your needs.
