Optimistic First Time Owners - Wisconsin

Greetings Airstreamers,

We purchased a 73 Airstream International (31ft.) about 6 weeks ago.The trailer was "as is", but saw great potential with many original parts still intact. So far, we have qualified for that "Dirty Jobs" tv show with septic system that looked like it was never flushed or emptied. We took the trailer to a service shop last night to have the wheels/axles/brakes checked. Lost a wheel along the way, but luckily we were heading to the right place.

Our goal is to get the trailer in shape this year, so that we can take our kids to see the states before camping with their parents isn't "cool" anymore.

The discussion threads have answered many of our tough repair questions. We learned everything from how to repair the tambour doors, to how to pinpoint the leaks in the roof. Thanks for everything.

Take Care,

Braunes

Hi Braunes,

Welcome to the fourm. You found the right place to get your questions asked. I personally won't be much help but there is quite a bit of knowledge here.

Look at the Moraine View Rally thread and consider signing up for next year.

Greetings Braunes!

Welcome to the Forums and the world of Vintage Airstream ownership!

I am sure that your family will enjoy touring with your Sovereign International. You might want to consider getting to know the Wisconsin Unit of the WBCCI. Our unit has a number of families with children of varying ages, and many of us have one or more vintage rigs. I just recently attended the Region 5 and 7 Vintage Airstream Club Rally in Poplar Grove, Illinois and a number of Wisconsin Unit members were in attendance -- I posted some photos of the rally at: Overlander 64's Vintage Airstream Club Web Pages

I may be a little bit biased about the Wisconsin unit as I have been a member for more than ten years and have enjoyed every function that I have attended. I feel sure that you would be warmly welcomed by our unit.

Kevin
