New to the Forum...
but not new to Airstreaming. My wife, going on 53 years now, and I bought our first Airstream in June 1973. Picked that 31' beauty up at the factory in Cerritos, California. After a day touring the factory, lunch, showing us how to hookup, unhook etc. they turned us out on the Santa Ana Freeway headed for Disney Land at 5 pm rush hour. Had never been to LA before but believe it or not we made it to Disney Land all in one piece. About 10 years ago parted with the 31 for a 1982 34' Limited that a Mormon couple had used for an extra bedroom at their home. Never been smoked in and everything was 10 except the hydraulic brake system had been replaced with electic brakes. We replaced the carpet, put oak flooring in the kitchen and moved in. I say 'moved in' because we had been Full Timing since 1976 in the 31' without a home base and continued to full time in the 34' until 3 years ago when we set up home base again in Oregon just out West of Portland up in the big timber.
All those years we've only had either of the rigs in a shop except to have a bent frame straightened on the 31' caused by bad hwy down in Louisiana. Those were the good ole days when the frame and running gear were warrantied for life of the original owner. Having been a farmer/engineer/architect I've always done my own upkeep and trying to keep the 34' Limited original.
But now I'm having antenna problems. It's a motorized antenna with all the fingers so i contacted 'Wingard' thinking it was one of their older units, but they say that is not so.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows the maunufacturer of the 1982 antenna.
Have to cut this short as friends dropped in.
