Hello from Northern California

I am a new member and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Vera, and I retired from teaching recently. Lately, I am feeling the need to get out and travel. I've always loved airstreams, and am looking into getting one in the next six months or so. Planning to drive to Alaska summer 2016......I know it's a long way :-) but I have lots of time.

"Welcome Aboard"

There's a "rally" every April at "Casini Ranch" where you could see, up close, lots of airstreams, of different eras . . . might be worth the trip . . . might be a little late if you're going to need to buy/prepare for a summer trip to Alaska.

Anyway, you found an awesome resource in this website, and they're a friendly bunch.

Greetings Vera, welcome aboard. Have you done some R V ing before?
Quite the ambitious plan. Buy trailer/ motorhome, stock up , head for Alaska.

Looking forward to your travel adventure posts.

This is a good place for the answers to what ever puzzles you going forward.

Cheers Richard

Welcome and Airstreams are the way to go. The Wally Byam Club does Caravans to Alaska and they are close to 60 days long and members have given it very high marks. The leaders are member volunteers so all you pay for is your expenses and as a first time trailer traveler you will have help if you need it. We plan on doing the Alaska Caravan in the next few years. No planning just going.

Welcome Vera. Thanks for your work as a teacher. We drove to Alaska two years ago from western N C so you are not so far. It is a great trip. There are lots of free maps and travel planning stuff from the state too. Have fun. Retirement is a wonderful thing!
