1975 Sovereign 29'

Hi, I have a 1975 Sovereign which I recently took with me from Maine to southern Ca. Early on in the trip I found a problem with the frame.Apparently the floor dropped down in the right rear of the camper. I looked at it further and noticed that a bunch of (bolts ??) in a row had sheared off just below the rear access door.Part of the problem I am sure is that the old girl is so long and low.Whenever I pull out of a parking lot I have make sure that it drops off gradually so as to not take my bumper off. I was able to secure it with a small ratchet strap and much prayer, which allowed me to complete the round trip. Now I am looking for some suggestions from some of you repair gurus on what the best way to fix this is. Any well intended suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead , Mark

Mark,
Do a search on "rear end separation" on the forum. You will find enough info to keep you reading til New Years day.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

Rear end separation is, unfortunately, some common on older larger Aistreams. Remember that there are many 30, 40, and 50 year old Airstreams still running the highways. There aren't any other trailers that old around to to have their tails separate.

There's a lot of good information on this issue on these Forums.

You have have better luck searching on Google using the words Airstream Forums and tail or rear end separation.

Good luck with your project.

Brian
