Genset In 30' AS LY (Gas)

I'm looking at my Genset ONAN 5500 and wondering how would I go about working on it since everything is so tight space wise. Is there a way to lower the Genset to the floor or ground? Also, I need to replace the exhaust pipe. Do I do this while the genset is in place? Thanks.

have a forklift handy?

I had to remove the microlite from a B-Van to clean the carb and fix a few things. That's only 130# or so and I could slide it out.

If you are going to do any work on your genset, easy access is going to make the job much easier. Getting that access is also probably going to be the hardest part of the job.

I was able to do service on my 6500 on 35' LY last fall without removing it. This included oil, filters (propane, oil and air), plugs and something else I can't remember. I don't think I would try to remove mineand would probably take to a service center. If you have a Cummins dealer or center near you they also own Onan. looking at mine, I think the exhaust could be done without removing the set, but again I would probably defer to Onan. They do have a tech support line and are very helpful. Go here to start:Cummins Onan RV Generator Customer Support At the bottom of the page click on the contact us link. Luck!
