And you were seriously considering driving her for 16+ hours straight, one way, this fall, at night. Baby steps grasshopper, baby steps.
I've said this so many times; There are many systems in our coaches, that laid dormant and unused for many years will break down, not immediately, but as they begin to be used again.
We will get together again Mark, no worries, but I'm glad you reconsidered....
Cheers
Tony

Bummer.
A radiator cap shouldn't just pop off. More than likely it was left loose and was able to rotate via road vibration to the point it could come off like it did.

I think it popped off because it probably got super hot in there.
But I don't know for sure because of course my temp gauge doesn't work either.
I'm adding it to the list. Grrrr.

Took this pic of the Led's in a fixture right next to a fixture with the old original bulbs. The plastic in my Moho is turning yellow and the yellow hue of the bulbs just exaggerate it. The white Led's make it look bright and new.

Gregsch,
I ordered the ones you listed. I'm excited to put them in when they arrive. Thanks for the pic!

Good one! Sorry to hear about your troubles.
I've had issues with Dali for the first 3 years and just last year worked out most of her mechanical hiccups!!! There's still a list of things needing work or replacing (thankfully the list is getting shorter and shorter!) I was doing 2600 mi round-trips to Sturgis, SD from Detroit, MI!
Good luck!

Tap, sorry to hear about your radiator troubles!! Ahh, that's frustrating man!
My radiator was pulled, pressure tested and dipped (cleaned in the hot tank) about 6 years ago. I can't speak for everyone, but I believe its a worthwhile process to have it done. I regularily run my moho in excessive heat here in Texas and have never overheated. Many folks on the forums seem to say the 454's run hot but that hasn't been my experience. I do contribute this to having a fully functioning and clean radiator. As well as a good tune-up etc.
Just some thoughts if you've been running warm at all. Keep at it man.
Ben

Hey dudes, this is my radiator overflow container, right?
Does anyone sell a replacement that looks just like it (except for not crumbling apart)?

Doorman makes one that will fit, less any kind of sensors if applicable. Looks like this on Ebay, but many autopart stores carry them

I purchased mine several years ago from the Airstream Factory, Jackson Center, OH, it included the sensors.

I picked up one from a chevy truck at the pick-n-pull for about $3. They're attached via 2 bolts in an aluminum plate, so its pretty universal for fitment.

Tap, try Mill Supply. Their Stepvan Parts catalog has a lot of parts common for the P30 chassis.
Maybe not this time but they might be a good resource in the future. Worth a look.

Hi gang,
Sorry that I've been rather quiet lately, I've just been sad that my 280 has been immobile ever since the radiator blast off. I've been so bummed to miss even more of the RV'ing season.
But (knock on aluminum), the overheating will soon be fixed, and I hope that I will still get to enjoy my Airstream soon.

Good to hear you are hanging in there Mark.
What are you having done/doing about the overheating?

I think we got one very short trip in during our first year of ownership Tap. Try not to get too bummed out. These monsters take some time to get em back to useable condition. One step at a time buddy.

The head gasket was bad, and the water pump was shot. The motor got incredibly hot! It got so hot It melted some of the plug wires.
Now all new gaskets on the top end of motor. Heads, intake manifold, valve covers, and anything else that had a gasket.
I also had a new water pump put in, new thermostat and new plug wires in it.
I got a new temp sensor, but it was wrong one. I need to find the right one though.
Do you guys know where I can find the exact replacement temp sensor and gauge?
