Airstream 300 LE - any out there?
I am about to pick up a 1991 Airstream 300 LE motorhome. I have admired Airstreams for years and have spent the past few days on this forum searching for anyone else who has or knows of anyone else who has this model. Any 300?
Thank you for your help.

Jim,
Don't get discouraged if you don't get may replies until after the holidays are over.
When you get a chance post some pictures of the 300 LE.

Another Proud New Owner
Hello all!
I posted this note just before the holidays & never heard from anyone. So, are there any other 300 owners out there? I flew to CA and picked up my "new" 1991 300 LE and first want to thank all who have shared so much. By the time I got to CA, I had a good idea of what I was in for. Lucky for me, almost everything is working on this AS with the exception of the cooling unit on the refrigerator that is now also fixed. I drove 8 days from CA to FL and learned more each day. Again, thanks to all and now I feel I can contribute as I begin doing more minor fixes. Will post pictures shortly. Jim

That's a clean-looking moho, appears to be unmolested at least from that view. 2 ACs for only 30' you should be able to hang meat in there.

Nice Rig, even has the wrap around windows in the rear. If it would have a dinette across from the gaucho, it would be my dream Airstream Motorhome

It's all original - but . . .
Thanks guys for the nice comments. Now that I've finally figured out how to attach pictures, I am attaching a few more. I was very lucky to find this one in CA, so there is almost no rust on it. The bad part of being in Northern CA, was that one side that faced the sun for 6 years when it didn't move but once or twice a year, has "cooked" the paint. Now it is decision time. To strip and polish or repaint? I have gotten everything to work now after 3 weeks of major top to bottom inspection and servicing by some great mechanics in Hayward, CA. It has a Banks system, hose reels for water and electric, generator, 2 a/c, fan, microwave/convection oven and furnace all working! Even the electric switch on the dashboard to lock the deadbolt works. I did a lot of research prior to purchasing, and also had a good idea of what needed fixing. The major repairs were the refrigerator and needing I learned new aid bags for the rear suspension. The Forum was super in that on the road I was able to identify the part number. I purchased one in CA and had the second one shipped overnight to CA so it could be installed. Regarding the refrigerator, if you need a new cooling unit as I did, the folks at ATCO-America were superb! They make rebuilt cooling units which are galvanized steel and won't rush out. Wonderful to deal with. Original owner also installed an electric fan to cool the engine. He also left in the motorhome miles of electric cable for shore power - 50 amp, 30 amp, 110 v, enough sewer hose to reach across two campsites, and share parts to build a second motorhome.
But the question is that I find that there are molded covers and electrical wires in each of the storage compartments under the coach. It appears that it has some type of electric lock system. Does anyone have one of these and how do you operate it? Oh, the doorbell doesn't work yet, but we'll tackle that soon. Jim
