Weather forecast keeps changing. Apparently there is a stalled out cold front that can't seem to move much. Forecast yesterday had the front moving through you. Rain and storms are riding along the front. Current radar as of 8:25 am shows much of the weather north of you all. Rain chances are now 50% each day so you guys may have to wing it, or slosh in it dependent upon what side of the 50% you are on.

We have decided to have a fall rally, too!
Third weekend in October.....16th-18th....make your reservations now!

Mike, if anyone checks in here before we get there, I made an executive decision this morning not to bring the trikes because of the rain.
See you there tonight!

For anyone at this rally could you have Mike or Dana call their son? NON EMERGENCY, dad called last night to say bad weather was moving in and I have not heard from them since. Both phones are going to voicemail and the ranger is not answering the phone. Repeat, non emergency, just checking on those crazy kids and all of their friends.
Thanks!! Darin

Great Time at Moraine View
Our sincere thanks to all who helped make this such a fun rally. We felt so welcome by everyone. It was nice to put names to faces . We had such a nice time, despite the rain and we will be back next June. We really enjoyed meeting such a nice group of folks. Kevin, Kathy, Hanna and Millie

Glad you enjoyed it. We've been doing this for 13 years and probably from what I have seen and in talking to Silvertwinkie (Eric), this probably has been the wettest weekend. The good side is that you did get the potluck in and at least the Airstream video. I was sitting here on the laptop the last two nights trying to be a spotter for the weather and sending Eric texts as I saw things approaching. You came close to a severe storm last night. I gave Eric about a 40 minute warning and at that time you guys had just started the movie. About 15 minutes later it veered off to the north and stayed on the northern side of I-55. Glad it did since it had hail and 70 mph winds.
Sorry to have missed being there but big thanks to you all for stepping in to make the wheels turn. Always great to see things carry on even though some of us have had to drop out.
Our goals are getting Patty better, getting out on a test camp in September and if things go well, we definitely will seriously consider getting up there for those of you who will show in October.
In the meantime have a great summer, and if we can get the health issues on track, our plans will be to be back for next year.
Jack

I am home, scrubbed thoroughly from head to toe , and working on laundry.
On my way, it occurred to me that I said goodbye....and collected hugs from ... those milling around, but forgot to check trailers for anyone not out and about, so if I missed any goodbyes, it was not intentional, and hope to see y'all at least next June.
Thanks to everyone for another great rally, despite the on and off rain. We got a lot of visiting in, and just a bit of eating , in spite of some heavy downpours.
We had several new faces this year.....each of which were personally invited via these Forums by yours truly.
I tell everyone this is a great group of people.....and each of our newcomers thanked me this morning for inviting them and made a point of saying what a warm, welcoming, and really great group of folks are the Moraine View rally.
And....yes, you are.
Don't forget.......October 16-18, 2015, we are going to do a fall rally this year.
See you there.
Maggie....and much-better-behaved-Miss Lily

Planned on making this in the DO, but Dana loaned her convection oven when the DO was rained out.
This is ridiculously rich, and not a redeeming calorie but, perhaps for the egg and milk.....but delicious and kind of a fun way to use up leftover buns.
As requested:
Bun Pudding Custard
6 hot dog or hamburger buns, placed in a lightly greased, 2 quart casserole
1 stick butter, melted and poured over
2 1/2 cups milk
4 large eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup each, brown sugar and white sugar
Beat together well, pour over bun and butter mixture, bake at 350 degrees 30-40 minutes til sharp knife inserted comes out clean.
One could sprinkle the top heavily with pecans, and it would be even more decadent and delicious.
Maggie

Thanks everyone for another great rally. It's always a downer leaving on Sunday, but to keep the excitement up, I've created a new thread and entry on the rally calendar for the fall rally.

Michael and I, once again, had an excellent time. The camaraderie and the light easy humor was absolutely perfect. We also learned a lot about awnings gone bad. Rule #1 never stop an awning spring with your forehead. LOL Thank you ALL for checking up on me, I'm totally fine. Thank you again to all who gave support and lent a hand (Roger & I think the other gentleman was named Chris?) to get the awning back up for the trip back home. We look at setbacks as valuable learning opportunities ... and boy are we learning! ;-)

500 miles, one major truck wreck delay on the highway in St. Louis, six rain squalls lunch, dinner, one antique mall and a very thirsty truck later ($2.46 for diesel-yaaaay), we're back on the farm. Even scored a great vintage ice cream maker and scoop on the way!
Thanks again for a great weekend! We always have a blast!
