Getting in and reserving sites early seems to have worked very well in the last 2 years. I know this the first year Devoman posted the idea on 10-27
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...lly-27292.html
and LI Pets posted on 8-27
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...lly-35478.html
and is seemed to work out fine.
Do not want to get over organized but Devoman will need more support.

It's up to Steve. We'll be there either weekend, but would prefer the earlier one because of school. Becki's a teacher and we have two school aged kids and would like to come in earlier than 12:30 Saturday morning, but we will be there whichever weekend it happens to be.

Different people will end up wanting different dates for different reasons.

Since it is such a popular event/place/people - and I am sure people stayed after and got in earlier - just have the event over two weekends - with parties and socials like a huge Silver Bash - Expansion never hurts....
I am still really sorry we missed this years - and sure hope that the powers to be will allow good health and opportunity for us to travel and make it next year.
I like either date - and would more than likely be there longer - as we certainly would not travel the 1500 miles just for a weekend - no matter how great the crowd

This is a real possibility over the next few years as Christmas and New Years is on Thursday in 2008. Friday in 2009. Saturday in 2010. Yada yada.
Just make a week of it (if you are lucky).

Hey Everyone
I pretty much just got back on here again and started reading everything.I understand everyone will want to do certain dates and I was hoping that it could be done at a time when school is out.I really would like to see more kids at this rally. The only thing with situations like this is that if we were to do it on new years.Everyone that knows about it can sign up early. The ones who dont know will never make it.You will have to do it fast because that place fills up like every other state park.I live not even 5 minutes from St.Andrews and they are always completely full during christmas to new years. You are lucky to get in and are taking a chance to do so if you are just doing an overnighter. Those sites are taken real early in the year.
Another Reason that I did not want to post so early is because there are other forum rallies going on.To many can confuse some people.Just imagine how many pages would have to be read just to find out what is going on.That is why I liked starting it on september this time.It gave us 4 months to setup and get ready for the rally.
Well...I have been thinking about it a lot and I have decided to start it on the 9th-11th.My daughter will be in school also at that time so I am in the same boat as the rest of you all that have kids. Also on those dates the parks will emptier and more people would be able to attend if that happens.
I will not be starting a thread until around the first of September again and I know you all will be watching out for it.
I already have been working on it an the schedule we used at this one worked out perfect. We will be doing it again in the same way next year.
Get ready Minnies Mate. That was one giant cocktail party.
Thanks Everyone.
There were some left over prizes at the rally.I have a green bug lantern,Brass step bars and a set of flamingo ear rings(Those go to Overlander & Sea.)
Oh...And one more thing. In a few more days or so I will be locking the thread out.
Thanks for the donations everyone. Not only did we pay for the site for the 2 nights but we now have enough for 2 nights next year. Thanks

Thanks
Steve,
Thanks for making the date decision....based on sound judgement......Topsail was almost overflowing during Christmas-New Year's, but had plenty of room for our '08 timeframe.
And, I really appreciate your hard work on this year's rally....our first, and what a great one! I am ready to assist with '09.....just let me know what you need.
Give that cutie, Breanna, a hug for us!

We are planning on reserving site 122 for next year. It has a larger area in front of the patio area so people won't have to spill over into the street like this year. We really had no idea how many people would attend this year. But next year we will really plan for a crowd!
Again, thanks for all that contributed to the snacks and the fellowship. We are looking forward to hosting the same event next year. See you all then.

Guess that means you'll be hosting the cocktail party next year then?

SO this means this are the solid dates, because if so, I can ask off the time from work now, and that will allow me to come to next years rally.

Close this thread and start a new one, Steve. I'm ready to start dreaming.
MM - just pulling your leg, we enjoyed the back row. Helped when walking the dog.
Now, to wait till February 9th to make reservations again...... Looks like Disney and Fort Wilderness for the New Years then back to Topsail Hill.
