Special Driving Advice to Casini!
It is time for the annual message urging all Airstreamers heading for Casini Ranch and the Russian River this week NOT to allow your GPS or map printers to lead you astray and onto miserable single lane logging roads...
From north or south, stay on Hwy 101 north of Santa Rosa and take the River Road exit, and drive west along the river and through the vineyards past Guerneville to Moscow Road and Casini's.. Highway 116 is not a road to take a trailer on between Sebastapol and Guerneville, and Highway 1 is going to be a pain with any trailer longer than a Bambi.. River road is relatively straight, almost completely level, and wide enough to navigate easily.. And don't be fooled by river bridges in Guerneville or Monte Rio and GPS urgings to cross the river to south bank.. Stay on north bank of river until you get to Duncan's Mills and then cross over bridge and up the hill to Casini...

Thanks very much for the driving directions. Our first time to Casini Ranch, and I am always skeptical of the GPS on back roads. River Road it is! Thanks again.

GPS hahaha.
We trusted our GPS on the first trip to Casini about 3 years ago I think
(pre Airstream); the route it gave us was through Sebastopol, up the Bohemian Hwy to Monte Rio then along the south side of the river to Casini! Beautiful drive in a Vette or Ferrari but not towing a trailer. On the trip home, the wife insisted on taking 'the highway' back; well Hwy 116 wasn't any better I can tell you that! River Road to Duncan Mills has been the preferred route ever since...

We have ARRIVED...
There is a '66 Safari or GT in 142....where Jim and Maria are listed to be. I 'greeted' the nice young lady and she said she's from Idaho. There were 2 kayaks on top of her SUV so I asked who she is tracveling with. "No one. the 2nd kayak is for whomever would like to join me on the river". she answered. She was surprised that more shiny d'pipes would soon be filing in. I told her that since she is the 1st to arrive she is the official, unofficial greeter. I think I sensed a slight bit of panic.
Paul and Bobbie have arrived too. The weather is great. I had several piccys to share but my 4g Verizon air card is at 2g.....kinda like towing and Airstream with a bicycle.

^^^^ Very cool picture!! ^^^^
Bringing our 2 day old Airstream home from Oregon, we crossed the GG bridge southbound. There's a tight right hand corner off Doyle Drive onto the drive through the Presidio, with a big steel wall CLOSE to the apex of the turn.
I was worried that I placed a big crease on that pristine Airstream, but an hour later, safely at home, found that I didn't. BIG sigh of relief....
Wishin' we were joining you....

Hookups open?
Hi Jeff,
Would you or anyone reading this know if there are AS sites open due to cancelations? We are staying at a marine RV park in Bodego Bay and will join the informal rally if there is space. Also saw that there is a potluck and I need to know when (if there is room). We have had inconsistent wifi so please email me with info at cathynovosad@gmail.com
Thanks
