Unhappy Wind Sensor Awning WARNING!!!

This is my heartbreaking NEWBIE mistake with my 2018 AI !!

Be very mindful when leaving the curb side rear door fully opened and held by the magnet on the curb side of AI, especially when your awning is extended.

If the wind sensor activates the retraction cycle, it is not able to fully retract because the rear door in tall enough to catch the awning's metal cover.

If you are nearby and quick enough when that happens you may be lucky enough to stop the awning before it hits the door. However, if you are not nearby (as I was), the awning will jam against the back door. My damage appears minor but probably needs looking at by Airstream techs.

Sorry to hear you have a scratch on your new AS
The awning will also hit the top of the side sliding door when open if not adjusted properly. I made two support poles from adjustable length brush handles and pull fuse #10 on the side of the drivers seat base. This will remove power from the awning and steps but stop the aggravation of the awing retracting in the slightest breeze.
The learning curve might get worse before it gets better but all worth it in the end
