Got New tires on the front today. The hard working young lad couldn’t get the alcoa lug covers to stay on after he re mounted the tires. He said he spun the lug gun real quick to remove them to access the lug. I assume it twisted or stretched it too much. Can someone point me in the direction of the previous discussion or educate me on proper removal and replacement of the decorative covers to avoid this in the future. I now have a handful of the old ones and the tire company swiftly offered to order new ones from alcoa.
Thanks!
I carry a special set of padded pliers to remove the lug nut covers without damage. The pliers weren't especially costly. They ride on a magnetic strip that I installed in the rear end of my GT.
I would post a photo, but they are in the storage yard.

At first I tapped in the dimples on every other flat to make them fit tighter. I now use a piece of making tape over the lug nut to make the decorative cover fit tighter. I bought so rubber covered lug nut cover removal pliers for less than $10 at camping world.
I use a pair of channel lock pliers that I out on thick double sided 3M tape. Works well for one set of lug cover removal. The impact wrench relaxes the interference fit of the covers to the lug nuts.
