BeneSug: Keys (J&RB001)

When we purchased our 2018 Flying Cloud 30RB from original owner, the man blithely placed NINE keys in our hands. Sure, a couple for the front door, but what were the rest for?

Well, there are a couple keys for the front door, and three near identical keys for fresh water input and two exterior lockers, a tubular key for a so-called hitch lock, a second tubular key for a wheel boot, and two normal flat keys, one for a hitch receiver pin lock and a second for a padlock device that slips into a down-and-locked hitch coupler . . . nine keys in all.

We’ve assembled all nine keys on a large key ring in a particular order. The two front door keys are similar with fat plastic grips, so easy to select from their companions, as well the tubular keys for wheel boot and hitch lock. Five remain, of course, of which three are—from all appearances—identical. We got so tired of playing “which one” for front locker, rear locker or fresh water supply, JB—John is JB, Roberta is RB—color coded keys and lock centers. That makes all the difference. Of course, truck and shell keys are mounted on their own SEPARATE key ring. House keys? Don’t get us started.

(RB insists JB add the following: if the need arises to replace an exterior locker lock, buy TWO.)

I divide my trailer keys into two rings. The door keys on one for ease of use when coming and going from a camp site and all of the others on the second. After setting up camp I leave the second ring on an inside hook by the door as I don't need them until I am ready to break camp. When travelling (or any other time) both rings are kept in the centre console of the TV.
