I just read that some one else read that Airstream is going to reissue a vintage 60's model? This is very second hand info though.

I believe there would be a definite market for vintage replica's with modern technology. I won't be part of it, but I'm guessing many would.

You can get that now from places like timeless trailer, but they are found at one of a kind custom pricing.

Yea, I'll take a 1955 30 ft. Sovereign wide body with a Slideout, door within a door and 13 panel end caps. Add a couple automatic awnings, queen bed, cherry cabinets, classic interior, mag wheels, digital sound, LED lighting and Alcoa factory clear coat. Make me a happy camper! Nuck nuck.

Tara Cox, a 40-year-old magazine editor who wrote a book called "Airstream: The Silver RV," notes the fandom bordering on fanaticism that the trailers inspire, besides the fact that they cost more than other RVs, usually have less storage space and require more maintenance to keep the outside looking nice. She compares Airstream owners with Harley-Davidson riders who baby their bikes.

Hmm. Imagine that. I resemble that remark. Can Airstream owners and Harley owners be "compared" if they are the same person?

Well, hopefully the 'longevity' of the 'new-improved' AS will survive to become legends in their own...

I asked Airstream if they had a Carbon Fiber trailer in the works.....Nope.
I could pull it with my Goldwing. Really.

I wonder: is this increase in sales due to a glut of Baby Boomer retirements (happily) coinciding with an improving economy? If so, I also wonder if this spurt is temporary, maybe just a release of pent-up demand. (Either way, that swell in inventory bodes well for upgrading to a new-to-me trailer or Interstate in 8-10 years time!)

On the other hand, maybe the growth is from China and sales to younger buyers. AS has noted that a surprisingly high % of buyers are first-time RV owners.

I think the company is doing VERY well with riding a red-hot Class B market with the most expensive offering in the segment.
