Before I can get to the fun RV renovation stuff I am still working on the drive train. I tried having the carburetor rebuilt professionally twice. The motor ran better but would die after a half an hour of running. Every time I drove I was anxious that it would die and strand me again. That was no good for an RV.
I decided to drop the big bucks and install a Holley Sniper fuel injection system including a new fuel pump and regulator. I had already dropped the tank and had it cleaned and coated. So the fuel system is all new. As long as I was at it I replaced the distributor, plugs, and wires. So the ignition system is all new. I hired a mechanic to do the work on the side at his home for a cost of $4,000 for parts and labor. It's not very difficult to install but I just didn't want to do it.
The result is a reliable engine that starts every time, isn't effected by heat, is quieter, and has noticeably more power. Best of all is the peace of mind while driving.
