just bought a 69 ambassador. can anybody tell me how to check the axels. they seem to be ok, it towed very smooth. but i would like to be sure. thanks. Reid.
The Dura-Torque Axle Read this for starters. Also, pull the backing plate of the brakes, then clean and check the axle by the rear bearing area for any signs of wear, or cracking. I read it here somewhere, but I don't remember where.

Jack it up, if the swing arms stay in the same place or moves very little the axle is shot. If ithe swing arm drops around 3 inches it still has life
