Not a hoax, but possibly more expensive than other solutions. This is nothing more than Tens - Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator. It can be quite effective for some folks and well worth trying for pain relief as the side effects are fairly benign when compared to pharmacologic solutions. You can purchase dual channel Tens stimulators on eBay for less than $50. Check out the Tens 7000 as an example.
This technology was pioneered by Medtronic in the 90's and has now become a commodity product. Definitely worth trying for folks that have chronic back pain.

I bought one of these in a 10x13 size and changed my life. I can fix my back or neck when I develop a problem.

I'll add my "thumbs-up" for a TENS and a hot/cold pack.
My motto is, "Doctors will kill you with medication". I say that with the understanding that doctors ARE needed and medication IS needed, but I believe that, in a lot of cases, there are good alternatives to "pharma".

I second the TENS UNIT. In the OR years ago, we implanted electrode recipients to be used with a unit. They were very beneficial. I am happy to see that they are now available, in a much easier to use form, and not at all expensive. I see them advertised on tv by Shaquell O'Neal, previous basketball player. Can't remember the name...Smart Unit.... Or something like that.
Walgreens has a generic TENS UNIT for $30.00, refills are $12.00, and they are guaranteed, and will accept returns if not satisfied.
As for the one you posted...I don't know....but, did you read the fine print at the end? Pretty pricey, I think...you may well end up paying $250.00 for it. I would not spend so much on it. Like any new technology, a lot of companies try to cash in on it.

Again... Thanks!!
I have experienced the TENS units... And figured this was similar... Powered by some kind of unobtanium snake potion...
I did read the "cost".. Still... Thanks for making me aware of that!
I will research the Walgreens nearby..

Channing, I made a run to Walgreens yesterday and picked up an "ICEY/HOT" brand TENS unit, $(40.), along with extra pads for back, hip, ($12.), and knee/ shoulder, ($12.) Also an ICEY/HOT ice/hot pack. I considered that should be a good addition to my first aid kit. By tweaking my back Friday shoveling snow, it reminded me that I don't want to be dealing with anything like that on my trips...now, or later!
