My Commute Today. A Pictorial.

Every two weeks I take the ferry to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island to visit one of my buildings that is under construction. When it's sunny, like today, it's a beautiful trip. Well, to me, even when it's raining, it's still a beautiful trip. Anywho, I thought I'd take some snap shots so that all you folks who have never been to this part of the world can see what it's like here. They aren't the greatest because I only took my little point and shoot camera that I use on construction sites.
Here is the view as we approach Nanaimo:

Here's the scenery on the return trip to the Mainland. We pass several islands as we approach Horseshoe Bay (the North Shore of Vancouver, where I live):

Thanks for the pics. I have been up that way (though I think it was cloudy because we couldn't see those mountains - wow!) and I think it's the most beautiful place I've ever seen - green trees and blue water. If everyone got a commute like that, they wouldn't mind going to work so much!

Great scenery. BC is a beautiful place as is most of the Northwest.

I am privilaged to live in Washington state. It is one of the most diverce states in the Union, much like BC is in Canada. It seems few people know this. The beauty a variety here is awsume to say the least. Those pics of the islands that are between BC and Washington remind me of the trips I have taken threw the San Juan's to visit friends. Anyone living is this part of the world is very lucky.

Been there done that and want to again...

Yes, I have been on that ferry a couple of times....but way too long ago. I have cousins in BC. One lives in Victoia. Just beautiful. She takes a ferry to Vancouver to visit her ailing mum. But it is very expensive. Can you guess when we were there last if I told you the cost of the ferry ride with car was $4?

Boy, those brought back good memories for me. Hubby and I took a 2 week tour of your beautiful area in August 2001. We were supposed to go in September but the tour was overbooked so they called and asked if we could change our plans. Glad we did - We would have been beginning our tour on September 11th.

All things happen for a reason.

Thanks for making my day ---- wonder where I put that photo album.....

Now you went and did it. Everyone will be heading up there to see the place and probably take my spot on the ferry and then my camping spot as well. Just kidding, but I'm glad I have that Island on my sites for this years trip. Thanks for the pics and sharing all the information with us.

Thanks for the photos Cameron. We were there in 2005 and find we spend a lot of time coming back to the Pacific coast, NW to us, but I guess SW to you. I thought you were building a house for yourself, but now that I learn you are an architect, I get it.

My commute is from bed, downstairs, then either to kitchen, bathroom or office. Great view, entirely different than yours; both great.

Being in such a dry place, we have to have some ocean each year. I don't think Lake Superior was enough. Still mulling over that trip.

What a beautiful place! I've never traveled through the NW but the pictures really make me want to head that way.

The photos are fantastic. We we're in that area a year ago (April, 2008)... took the ferry from Anacortes over to Sydney, and spent a few days on Vancouver Island. Of course, we just HAD to drive up to Nanaimo for some authentic Nanaimo bars! We loved the town and the drive up there from Victoria.
