Lunar eclipse to turn moon red

From CNN space update:

Latest in string of cosmic shows
Thursday, November 6, 2003 Posted: 4:38 PM EST (2138 GMT)

(AP) -- Stargazers across North and South America, Europe and Africa will watch the full moon dim into a dark, ruddy orb over the weekend as the moon drifts through Earth's shadow in the latest celestial event this year to pull eyes skyward.

Sky watchers scrutinized Mars during its closest approach to Earth in 60,000 years this summer and were awed by red and green aurora displays as far south as Florida thanks to big explosions on the sun in recent weeks.

I read the east coast will get the best view at 8:06 p.m. Saturday night, EST. for the full 20+ minutes. Bummer that we won't get to see much out here at sunset in the west, but I'll be looking anyway. Enjoy! Thanks, L.

Lunar Eclipse Pic from Minnesota

This is what we saw at what was suppose to be the full eclipse. There was still a sliver of light at the edge the whole time. I took this picture with my Canon Elura 2 MC camcorder still picture mode at 40X digital zoom so the resolution and sharpness is not all that great.
