Do Airstreams Float?

So about 6 hours into our 8 hour drive home last night, I got into a conversation at the Flying J with a lady from near my hometown. After the typical questions about the Safari, she told me a story.

Many years ago, she was camping in the Vermilion river valley that borders Lake Erie. This vally is a very popular camping spot for both tents and RV's. Evidently, an upstream dam broke and water came rushing towards them. Most people were able to get out in time. She had to be rescued by the Coast Guard.

She related that the area was very popular with Airstreams. Many fell victum to the flash flood. She recalls siting near a bridge watching the trailers smash in to the overhang one by one.

Seems like a heck of a sight. I wonder how many are submerged in Lake Erie?

I have a friend that watched his go down stream when the river flooded at Williamsport Pa. way back in the 70s.

Any trailer will float for some time depending on how fast the water comes up.
