windshield for classic motorhome

Hello all,

I need help in finding replacement windshields for my 1976 'classic' Airstream Motorhome (Argosy). I know that all 'classic' motor coaches used the same windshield until body style change in the mid 1980's-but I've been unable to find any, new or used. Any help out there?

Thanks a-plenty! Tony

For new try Coachglass.com. The gasket you can get cheaper from Airstream than Coachglass (and faster).

well i also now need a new windshield . went thru a construction area in dallas this am and had some snap crakel and pop. didnt see any thing but when the sun came up i had some cracks. the insurance company isnt going to be happy.
i e-mailed coach glass some time ago and they didnt want to sell me a windshield. wanted me to get a glas shop to order. didn need the glass so i didnt ask why.
im told jackson center has the glass. not cheap but the insurance co is paying . it will be late june before i get to jackson center . or i might do as others did sched the work during the rally. or get my buddy at big bucks rv to order it for me, and maybe get his help to install on the weekend .
i would like to know what coach glass wants for a windshield both sides.

I got both windshields last fall from Coachglass shipped to a truck terminal with no questions about who would install them. The original set was too wide, when I called they checked their warehouse and had mislabeled the narrow ones. The replacements were there the next afternoon with a shipper to return the wide ones.

FWIW I would not try to install these unless you can get 2 people who really know what they are doing. They are big, curved and expensive. It was about $80 to have them installed and worth it.

The glass itself was $550 a side, shipping and crating made it $1305 total for both of them.

Any Airstream dealer can, if they want to, help you with windhields.

It is recommended that the complete gasket be replaced if it's become hard. That usually takes place in 10 to 12 years.

I think the number they are looking for is ASI M30. Mine are both PPG Glass

All of th info on mine was the same other that the number after the M30

Pass side (replaced) M30 25102
Drivers side OEM M30 2547? I am not sure on the number as the windshields has started to fog.

If an insurance company is involved with windshield replacements, why settle for used glass.

Airstream tells us that they have an exclusive on the windshields.

The windshields on my 1974 Argosy 24':
PPG Sunshade Solex Duplate
ASI M30 2529 (passenger) and 2534 (driver)

A question for you long-time owners: My driver's side windshield is starting to fog pretty badly, but the passenger side is fine for now. I think both sides are original. How soon can I expect the second glass to fog?

If I replace one, should I go ahead and replace both? (I'll be doing the gasket and a paint job at the same time.)

If you only replace one, and the gasket for both, I would be concerned that the other side will fog at some point. That is what I have going on now. My Pass side was replaced at some time in the past. The drivers is OEM. The drivers is beginning to fog. I do think the fogging is accelerated by the exposure to UV rays. If you are able to store inside or in the shade then you may not have the issue. Another option is to replace the one and hope that when they pull them both the "good" one cracks while they are installing the gasket.

GOT A E-MAIL FROM JACKSON CENTER . I NOW HAVE THE AIRSTREAM PART NO . NO. I DID HAVE I DELATED IT.
SOME ONE HAS TO HAVE THE OEM NUMBERS ON THEIR GLASS THE PPG NOS DIFFER WITH EACH UNIT ALMOST.
SOME ONE HAS TO HAVE THE OEM NUMBERS SO LOOK FOR A SET OF NUMBERS THAT ARENT PPG AND POST. AS THAT IS THE NO WE ARE LOOKING FOR.. DONT KNOW WHY PPG WOULDNT WORK BUT THEY DONT CROSS.

Where are these numbers located on the windshield? I looked all over and only found the following: ASI with a downward arrow between the A and S. This was on the drivers side nothing on the passenger side. The numbers may have faded, if you can tell me where to look I might be able to somehow locate them.

The numbers on mine were in the bottom corner next to the center pillar right on the front of the motor home. Seems like an odd placement, but I would assume it is there for a reason.

SHOULD BE FOUR MORE NUMBERS AFTER M30. M30 _ _ _ _
WITH FOUR DIGITS IS THE NORM SO FAR. YOU MAY HAVE ADDED A NEW TWIST TO THIS ONE. THE NUMBERS ARE HARD TO SEE.
