Generator cuts off

On a recent drive through the N GA mountains, my generator would cut off when we rounded a turn . When I slowed down a lot, it helped, but this had never happened to me, even in the Smokeys. My firt thought was low gas in my tank, sloshing around, but I stopped and added 30 gallons and it still cut off one more time.
Thinking I will change the generator gas filter and see what happens, as I have not yet changed it, although I did clean the carb and replace plugs not too long ago. It fires up and runs fine other than on these turns. Any suggestions or experiences here?

Fuel slosh in the float bowl. They are pretty much made for stationary operation when you go around a corner it probably messes with the float.

I would definitly check or change the fuel filter. Our 93 land yacht generator ran fine till we run out of gas, and it set for a while. I changed the filter and the rubber connecting hose. It would run for a few seconds then quit. I had to clean it out about three times before it would stay running. guess i need to clean the tank out some day. When you have the hose disconnected let it pump out a little gas in a can to help clean it out.

Alan,
stick another inline glass filter in there while you at it. Keeps the guessing out of the equation.

Thanks guys, guess I will be fuelin' around with it before my next trip.
By the way, in the mountains going up and down those windy roads, 90 degrees outside temps, my AS stayed at the low end of the temp gauge most of the time...reading 160. Realizing that the gauge may be off a bit, but also that the wetting agent seems to have really helped the temps this summer.Well worth the 5 bucks for the stuff..

Okay, fill me in on the "Wetting Agent". My biggest fear is overheating the engine....

My question is how much GAS was in your tank at the time? Could there have been air in the line after you filled?

It should be configured so anything below 1/4 tank it will not run. This so you would not run yourself out of gas while camping..

About gen set, mine kicked off on bumps and curves too, so I called the PO and asked about the set. My manual says it's a gasoline set, yet he told me it is propane. I checked for the large diaphram thingy he told me to look for if it's propane, and sure enough it's there! It may have been converted. Still, looks a little oily around the base of the generator, so I think it may need some servicing. What Peter said about the float and using it only while stopped sounds right, but does a propane one have the same parts as gas...carb, filter, et cetera?
