Post Grote Marker lights

I thought I'd let ya'all know. I ordered all new original style lenses for my marker lights today. Part number 90063 and 90062. You cannot get the bases anymore. They tried to tell me that they won't fit on the new bases, but I tried them on some new grote bases when I got home and they fit great. Plus I got them for about 3 bucks a piece ! I emailed Singleton's RV in Rochester, WA. and they don't have any bases either. I also ordered a license lamp and bracket, very close to the original. the only difference that I can see is that the new one doesn't have the prominent peak on the top. I can live with that ! If you live near the Portland area, Otts Friction Supply is the Grote dealer in town. I work for a trucking co. and I quizzed the shop foreman today about parts, lol.

Napa is a Grote dealer too.

Just give those part numbers to any Napa store and they can order them...I think I paid $5 a light. Got them all, both red and amber. Tell me more about the bases? What is the base part number CJ.

Well the old base part number is 234. The bases I have are 4526 or a 4543. I just checked the grote website and they don't come up, so I am guessing that they changed the part number or don't make them anymore. I was really counting on Singleton's RV having some old ones laying around.

I bought a whole set of those, bases included, from Wal-mart a year ago, paid $1.97/ea. I tink I still have some extra bases, if you have to have some I will see what is left.

The bases aren't too hard to find. They're a fairly standard Grote oval base... but make sure you get the style with the pigtails. The correct lenses are never packaged with the bases. There is a flat oval style lens that comes with the bases. So you have to find the vintage style "hump back" lenses separately...and they often cost as much or more than the bases.

Hi C Johnson
I also bought a whole set and replaced every markerlite with Grote. I was just going to replace lenses and bulbs because of intermittent lites. What I found upon trying to replace bulbs was that the 31 yr old bases were also crumbling. I purchased mine from my local Fruehuf Dealer(semi-trailer brand) the price was about $1.90 each complete lite that even included the bulbs. While there I purchased boxes of tail lite and turn signal bulbs at a very reasonable cost rather than pay high single bulb prices at an Automotive store. I carry the bulb in the trailer at all times, so If I lose a lite in transit I can replace it as soon as I find that its out.
